Most people do it for a quick profit. I farm Trolls on my Monk, and then transfer the tusks over to my Warrior and run to the collector. I run to the collector about every 150 tusks as that fills my Warriors inventory with the collector items. Not only do you make 25 gold per instead of 8, but running every so often also prolongs the "You drops will be nerfed for farming the begining of the zone blah blah blah..." message.
The run isn't hard either, just bring along some hex removal incase you get the crapp heretic spawn. Other than that the Charge/Balanced Stance combo works nicely for getting past the knockdown with sprint to break aggro in between the groups of enemies so that you can let your balanced stance recharge. I get gazillions of troll tusks when I clear most of Talus Chute with my warrior. I just sell em to the trader- didnt know that people actually want these.

If this didn't happen with the uprising of trolls, I am actually glad. Seeing that they drop really okay drops, including 2 black dyes, gold items etc. If I only knew about this than solo trapping UW .

I buy troll tusks... must have trade over 1,000 = 200 items x 25gp profit = 5k. Each run takes me about 30 seconds to get to collector with my warrior. The trouble is to have enough room in inventory to get them.

The Real Purpose of the Troll Husks?
Sorry, but i too am seeking the answer to this question as i have over 250+ troll husks in my inventory. I do not believe that so many people are buying these troll husks like mad in all dist of droks just to get a few low gold profit. The run to each of the (i believe) 4 collectors that trade the troll husks really isnt that hard....i agree. but still its not worth getting those thiings and then trading them into the merchants. maybe its good for someone thats just starting off to trade them. But i farm the trolls myself and it takes a while to get over 200+
Any who.....something is fishy because.....i was asking around to see the purpose of the troll husks, this guy told me that he would tell me the secret if i gave him 10k...lol so i /pointed and /laughed at him and talked to someone else. Another person told me that they are to be used for (Ivory)???? Another person told me that there used in the new factions.....and of course like 20 others told me that there just for the collectors which is bogus i think. For some reason, when ever someone (WTB Troll Husks) is asked about the reason....they never respond, and the ones that do claim its just the collectors items. I think theres a Mountain Troll Conspiracy afoot. |

lmao
look only thing you could really do is sell some collector items to newbs in ascalon or someone is looking for a bit and pays for convenience.
I think a sword is in the line-up, believe people posted what you can get here But yeah that's why they only offer up a few gold and they know people get 100-200-stack(s) of tusks pretty easily, its a popular farm per stack: gold gained merchanting collector item rather than tusks = (25-8)x250=4.25k gold gained buying for 10g = (25-10)x250 = 3.75k gold gained buying for 15g = (25-10)x250 = 2.5k this is an easy run, this is easy money I dont bother buying them off people but I've done this myself ie get to 200 tusks, had room for 20 items, head there twice, sell all netted 200x25 = a cool 5k rather than 1.6k, if you can clear more space do more I'm sure those buying/doing it regularly are leveraging as much inventory as possible. If you can sell some of the items to peeps great you can net a lot more. Guessing the sword and a couple of the other items might work very well. I just normally dont have the patience, but neither am I a fan of such a cheap price for high level collectibles. It just doesn't make sense - I'm not sure why desert items are worth more than 3 times shiverpeak ones. Shrug. RoF items (unused) are 30g arent they? Hopefully Factions won't be so goofy. Early on I sold some of the stone summit badge items for a little profit but that got old fast and was a long time ago. As far as holiday items it's usually a lot easier to go for garg skulls or char carvings IMO. Well more to the point quicker, it's pretty easy to farm for badges in Yaks Last edited by CKaz; Apr 07, 2006 at 08:41 PM // 20:41.. |

yes yes, i know the collector trick, i think everyone on this thread has said the same thing over and over about the collector profit....im saying that i think theres another reason for the troll husks, hopefully someone will come up and speak on that matter.

-Ivory-
The only response that i have recived from random "WTB Tuskers" and guildies, is that they either salavage or become "Ivory". Probably in factions, but im not sure. This topic is the first ive heard of a collector involved.

i really dont get why people farm mountain trolls except for the high exp they give. in 1000+ trolls, i only got 1 gold, which was a hammer

This profit is so DEAD, either from 15-20 gold buy, when you trade them in and buy more your only making 1-2 k profit if I am not mistaken. Depends on how many you trade in and buy.
I made 60 k from tusks BOUGHT more and was down around 30-40 ish I might be off but that's how it went. |

5 mins buying tusks, 2 mins per run 875 profit per run. Normally make 2 runs from each buying session, so I'll get about 1750 gold profit. For 9 minutes of work. A LAZY 9 minutes. That's why people want tusks. Easy money. No conspiracy, not many people want the collector's items except the merchant. |

Too late you made a thread on it. Anet will move in for the kill and change it so all collectors items have equal worth to the items required sooner or later.
